MCA - Dry Needling (for Stretch Marks / Scars / Burns)

Skin Needling, also known as MCA (Multi-Trepannic Collagen Actuation), is an advanced technique used by Medical Permanent Cosmetic Artists in which to improve the texture and colour of stretch marks, burns, vitiligo, chicken pox and acne scars. This treatment can be used also to reduce surgical scarring, burn contractures and trauma scarring which are widely recognised by the medical industry.

MCA is not the same as Microneedling, Dermaroller or Dermapen.

Dry needling is carried out with the use of a specialist medical tattooing machine, using a dry needle technique (no pigment/colour used). The procedure consists of a single probe that enters the upper layer of the epidermis, just enough to cause a slight trauma and stimulate blood flow to the area.

MCA Dry Needling is actually not performed dry any longer, since it is now used with scar repair serums. So it is known now as MCA inkless needling.

MCA Dry Needling or MCA inkless needling is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) which is an effective treatment for improving the appearance of scars and burns.

It is a medical treatment using sterile tattoo needles causing more precision to targeting the scarred area, creating small channels to allow for scar repair serums to be absorbed in to the cells. This aids in the production of melanin (natural skin colour / pigment), collagen and elastin to flatten, smooth, shrink and re-pigment the scar tissue. Only the area is focus on, without affecting the surrounding skin.

The size of the needle is determined on the area treated.

Due to the more aggressive nature of the treatment, it is classed as a medical procedure.

Types Of Scars

Most scars are suitable for the MCA treatment, except Keloid scarring and new scars (which are less than 12-24 months old).

If a scar is still pinkish or red / purple, then it is most probably still healing and should not be interfered with until it has finished healing. Anyone with a history of keloid scarring should not be treated, unless they have a GP’s letter confirming they are suitable for the treatment. It may be that they had a keloid scar once, but not since. Anyone having piercing (ears or body) or a tattoo and were fine, then they are likely to be suitable for this treatment.

Frequency of Treatment

The skin healing time varies between clients but MCA needling treatments can be performed usually every 6 weeks. Some with weaker immunity and older clients, will take longer.

Is everyone suitable for the MCA Needling?

Those with a history of keloid scarring are not suitable.

Hyperpigmentation is also another condition which needs to be approached with caution. It is possible to treat those who suffer from hyperpigmentation, however their skin need to be prepped otherwise can be left with dark pigment in the areas.

Most hyperpigmentations and darkness of the skin could be transient, and only lasting several months, but there is a risk of longer term dark pigmentation. It is possible to try to manage hyperpigmentation (or Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation PIH) with topical products at home, and also by following stretch mark needling treatments with chemical pigmentation peels. This can be an a risk, however will be explained fully at consultation.

What results can be expected?

As with any aesthetic treatment, it is never possible to predict how someone’s skin reacts to treatment. Every person is different and the easier you tan, the better results you will see for the stretch mark and vitiligo treatments.

How many sessions are needed?

Usually one session can be enough, however a few MCA needling treatments might be required to see a more dramatic improvement.

Some people may not respond enough, but it is possible to get amazing results from 1-3 treatment and is highly recommended to try the MCA if you have lost pigment within your scars/ stretch marks, before resorting to ink/ pigment camouflage tattooing.

Areola Reconstruction Tattoo

Reconstructive breast surgery following cancer can be an emotional experience.

Medical tattooing of the nipple and areola provides the final touch to the breast’s surgical procedures, helping to give patients a sense of normality.

The treatment takes about 2 hours. The effects are realistic and artistic, and the end result can help some women gain a boost to their self-esteem.

What are the advantages of nipple and areola reconstruction treatments?

  • Expert colour matching and placement corrects misshapen areola after breast surgery
  • The treatment uses natural pigments that last up to two years, it can be touched up to reflect your changing skin tones.
  • A 3D simulated nipple gives the illusion of protrusion, providing a very realistic look.

Skin Camouflage

Medical micropigmentation is a form of medical camouflaging procedure which re-pigments scars and vitiligo similar to tattooing. Natural pigments will be mixed to match your skin tone and inserted into the epidermis for lasting results. Touch-ups are recommended every 8-12 months.

Jilla completed her medical micropigmentation or permanent tattooing training in 2009 with Finishing Touches Group in the UK. She is well educated with an artistic background to produce a natural 3D effect for areola reconstruction and a perfect colour matching for scar or vitiligo camouflaging. Jilla has worked alongside nurses, doctors and skin care specialists worldwide and ensures you the very best result.

“Scalp” Medical Micropigmentation

This is ideal for men who have lost hair due to scars or general hair loss.

By working within the thinning hair and adding density to the scalp, you can make the hair look much thicker than it actually is.

The process effectively darkens your scalp by covering the patches so that you don’t see as much skin shining through the hair, giving the illusion of additional thickness.

This procedure works similar to a temporary tattoo which could last up to 2 years. Unlike a permanent tattoo, you have the option to alter the shape and colour in the future if you wish.

Frequently Asked Questions
(Electro Micro Surgery)

A topical medical anaesthetic is used before and during the procedure, so the treatment is not very painful and only a very slight sensation of heat is felt.

As the procedure is not full surgical excision and stitching is not involved, there will be no surgical scars. However there might be a slight skin discolouration left due to the heat used, and in most cases when the aftercare guidelines is followed, the skin heals without much trace of the treatment.

As the electro micro surgery procedure is invasive, please allow 2-4 weeks before any sun and sea exposure.

No, the anaesthetic is a topical lidocaine.

Yes, you are able to drive unless the procedure is around the eye area (please email for confirmation).

It normally takes 48hrs for the skin to scab, and can take 2-6 weeks for the scab to fall off and skin to heal (depending on your skin and the procedure).

No, the anaesthetic would penetrate the body and blood system.

You need to allow 48hrs for the scab to appear before makeup application. This is to avoid infection of the skin.

Ideally not for 48hrs until the skin is scabbed. This is to avoid infection.

Yes. The procedure of electro micro surgery is not laser, cryo sprays (which are dangerous to be used around the eye area), so it can be used for any unwanted growths from around the eye, and even inside the lashes.

With the procedure of electro micro surgery, the cyst can be reduced in size by draining it out, or shaving it down by cauterisation to reduce its size. This procedure is for cosmetic purposes and is not a full surgical cyst excision, and is not permanent. Using cauterisation the area will be sealed, and will not be stitched over, hence no surgical scars.

In some cases the sac of the cyst can be removed, but this depends on the type of cyst treated.

Please note: cysts can grow back, but not immediately and can take between 1-5 years, when the treatment can be repeated.

People frequently confuse sebaceous cysts and pilar cysts, but there are several differences between the two:

-Pilar cysts grow from your hair follicles, most frequently on your scalp. Sebaceous cysts grow from sebaceous glands that can appear almost anywhere on your body.

-Sebaceous glands secrete a substance called sebum that makes up some of the oil on your skin. Trichilemmal cysts are filled with keratin, a protein that makes hair, skin and nail cells.

-Pilar cysts are round and smooth and can grow quite large. Sebaceous cysts are tiny domes with a minuscule opening on top that will ooze sebum if you squeeze the cyst.

Pilar cysts can take 2-6 months to fully heal.

Sebaceous cysts can take 4-8 weeks to heal.

This procedure is for cosmetic removal of benign moles, and does not involve a full surgical excision, and some moles might grow back and require further treatments. There are no biopsy, or tests performed on moles, so ideally if you have concerns about your moles (bleeding, itching, changing shape or growing), best to have them checked before cosmetic removal, or forward a photo by email to advise.

Yes, when warts are fully treated, they are permanently gone without any damage to the surrounding skin, including Seborrheic Keratosis, Verruca and Molluscum Contagiosum.
